A FLEXIBLE SELLING-LANDSCAPE
We were asked by Wakaka, a Chinese mobile app developer, to design a physical, temporary store, one based on flexibility and variability. The layouts for the multiple stores might be in great need of rearrangement, due to a wide variety of products.
An image of the real world is presented on phones or pads in a pixelated way. To connect the physical store with the online store, those pixels were used to create one wooden, coherent selling-landscape made out of more than 2000 wooden “pixels”. The cubes connected with each other in varying formations which contain all functions needed for the store.
As the current configuration is temporary, after 6 monthsWakakaplans to close this flagship-store in order to open further shops, which will be smaller and spread around Beijing and Tianjin. As the shops move, all 2000 cubes move along, to be distributed and rearranged at the new locations.
